Russia Declares Party "Droa" Undesirable Organization

რუსეთმა პარტია „დროა“ „არასასურველ ორგანიზაციად“ გამოაცხადა

Russia has declared the political party "Droa" an "undesirable organization" for "Russophobic views." The information is being spread by Russian state-run media, citing the Russian Prosecutor General's Office.

The Prosecutor's Office says that party members "have sharply expressed Russophobic positions and aim to discredit Russia's activities in the direction of Georgia."

According to a statement from the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office, "they oppose the normalization of bilateral relations with Russia in the political, economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres, demand the restoration of the visa regime and the termination of direct flights between the countries. They believe that Russia occupied Abkhazia and South Ossetia, violated the norms of international law and the sovereignty of a South Caucasus state."

According to the agency, the leader of "Droa" accuses the Georgian ruling party of supporting a pro-Russian course and trying to isolate the country from the European integration process. The Prosecutor's Office also says that the party actively supports the Ukrainian government and calls for closer cooperation between Georgia and Ukraine and for the country to join the "Carpathian Octet."

Later, "Droa" itself issued a statement. According to the party, the Prosecutor's Office declared it undesirable for the following reasons: considering Abkhazia and the Tskhinvali region occupied territories of Russia and violators of Russian international law and Georgia's sovereignty; exposing the secret relations of the Ivanishvili regime with Russia; working to end the one-party system in Georgia; promoting the idea of accelerated integration of Georgia into the European Union; supporting the active backing of the Ukrainian government and close cooperation between Georgia and Ukraine, as well as participation in the "Carpathian Octet" (Austria, Hungary, Poland, Serbia, Slovakia, Romania and Czechia).

According to the party, the basis also includes the fact that the leader of "Droa", Elene Khoshtaria, accuses "Georgian Dream" of supporting a Russian course and derailing the European integration process.

"We use this honorable opportunity and once again declare: Abkhazia and Samachablo are Georgia! Glory to the heroes! The Ivanishvili regime is Russian! We will end the Ivanishvili Russian regime in Georgia! Georgia will be a member of the European Union and NATO!", writes the party.
