Georgian Citizen Detained by Russian Forces Near Bershueti Released
According to the State Security Service, a Georgian citizen who was illegally detained by Russian occupation forces near the village of Bershueti in Gori Municipality has been released. He is currently in the territory controlled by the central government. The detention took place on October 31, 2026.
According to the Service, all relevant instruments available to the central government were actively used in the process of releasing the citizen. Among them was the "hotline" run by the EU Monitoring Mission in Georgia (EUMM).
According to the SSG, the Service continues its active work to free all Georgian citizens held illegally in captivity in the occupied territories.
