Sokhadze to Parents of School No. 10: Classes Will Start Next September, Otherwise I Will No Longer Be Here

Infrastructure Minister Revaz Sokhadze took responsibility before students and parents of Tbilisi's No. 10 public school that classes in the new school will begin next September. According to him, if this does not happen, he will no longer be in office.
Students and parents held a protest rally on Dadiani Street demanding the construction of a school there and blocked the road. Sokhadze went to the protesters on site and spoke with them personally about the problem. The minister said he understands the anger of citizens, because living with this problem for so many years is not normal.
"We know very well the problem that exists specifically with this school. Your heartache, anger and the distress you feel are absolutely legitimate. I tell you this absolutely sincerely, because it is not normal that this problem has persisted for years and that children, parents and teachers have had to live in this situation for years," Sokhadze said.
According to the minister, there were certain delays in the construction of the school, but these problems have been resolved. The contractor has already submitted an application for the renewed permit. Sokhadze noted that some of the parents had already held a meeting at the Municipal Development Fund, and a new meeting can be arranged if necessary.
According to the minister, the contractor will resume construction in the coming days. "Our task and assignment, and I take responsibility, is that classes at this school will begin next September. This is the reality we have. Classes will begin in the new school next September. If they do not begin, I will no longer be where I am," Sokhadze said.
Students of Public School No. 10 and their parents are demanding the completion of the school building and the timely return of the children to school.
