Gogichaishvili: "Georgian Dream" Is Leaving the Sphere of Legitimacy by Banning Parties

Levan Gogichaishvili, one of the leaders of the party "Gakharia for Georgia", says that something very serious is happening in the country and that "Georgian Dream" is about to take a very serious step. He spoke about the lawsuit related to banning parties in an interview with Palitranius on the "Free Studio" program.

According to Gogichaishvili, the ruling party is completely leaving the sphere of legitimacy with its recent decisions. In his explanation, a classic violation of the constitutional order is underway in the country, the aim of which is to destroy every possible space for citizens to defend their rights.

"This political team, which is capable of stealing money from the funeral of the Patriarch, will give itself the right to everything, including a constitutional coup", he said.

According to Gogichaishvili, the issue is not about banning their party: this will weaken Georgia as a state, undermine the constitutional order and make the country vulnerable to neighbors and ill-wishers. In his words, they are banning parties in order not to tell people the truth, including that they are stealing from tenders, from the construction of kindergartens and schools, and from the feeding of the army and police. He also mentioned "call centers" and said that thousands of young people are involved in a fraudulent scheme, while they are stealing hundreds of millions of lari from pensioners in European countries.

Opposition politician assessed a Facebook post by Davit Okitashvili, in which Okitashvili accuses former Minister of Culture Tinatin Rukhadze of damaging reputations, demands that the prosecutor's office and the audit disclose the costs of the funeral of Patriarch Ilia II, and accuses former head of the State Security Service Mamuka Mdinaradze of protecting Rukhadze. Gogichaishvili also commented on a "like" under this post by Dimitri Samkharadze, a member of "Georgian Dream", and said that this means these people have no morals at all.

He also assessed the statement of Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze that no corruption cases were recorded during his premiership. Gogichaishvili said that the funeral money of the Patriarch was stolen during Kobakhidze's premiership and asked whether this shocking fact is not one.

Gogichaishvili also commented on the majority session scheduled for October 17, which the honorary chairman of "Georgian Dream", Bidzina Ivanishvili, will attend. In his view, the gathering around Ivanishvili will be organized as a demonstration, as if nothing bad is happening in the country.

According to him, "Georgian Dream" is such a rotten organism that the collapse of the party will be a big problem both for them and for the country. In Gogichaishvili's assessment, this organization will leave such a wound in the country's life that it may take more than ten years to get rid of it.
