Sioridze: Participating in Court Proceedings Does Not Mean Trusting the Court

One of the leaders of "Lelo - For Strong Georgia", Giorgi Sioridze, said that participating in the Constitutional Court's hearing of the lawsuit on banning parties does not mean trust in the court. He expressed his position on the "Rezime" program of Palitranius.
According to Sioridze, it is important that all material reflecting the institutional struggle be compiled so that legal grounds exist later against "Georgian Dream".
"Participating in court does not mean trusting the court, nor does it mean that anything can be achieved through legal means in Georgia. This has been the case in this country for a long time, we live in an autocracy. After 2024, we used all means and methods of institutional struggle. First we appealed the results to the election administration at all levels, then to the common courts at all levels, and even then we had no hope, but all of this must be compiled as legal grounds for the political verdict of "Georgian Dream" and also for our international partners, our allies, and when I say our allies, I mean the ally of the Georgian people", said Sioridze.
In his assessment, participation in the process is important because the banning of parties is the crown of "Georgian Dream's" dictatorial, anti-national and anti-Western policy, which has brought the country to isolation. Sioridze said that Ivanishvili has eliminated the democratic space in the country and now has moved on to banning parties. According to him, because of this step, "Georgian Dream" will have to pay a very heavy price both inside the country, where Georgian society will deliver its verdict, and outside the country.
Sioridze also assessed the resignation of Constitutional Court judge Manana Kobakhidze. Kobakhidze first requested recusal from proceedings related to banning political parties, and after being refused, decided to leave her post.
"Manana Kobakhidze's attempt is, of course, understandable to me. For every sane-minded person who is able to realize what a dangerous game Ivanishvili is dragging her into, and also understands what awaits on one hand inside the country and on the other hand international sanctions, whoever participates in this will pay a political price", said Sioridze.
He also commented on a Facebook post by Davit Okitashvili, in which Okitashvili accuses former Minister of Culture Tinatin Rukhadze of damaging his reputation, calls on the prosecutor's office and audit to make public the costs of the funeral of Patriarch Ilia II, and accuses former head of the State Security Service Mamuka Mdinaradze of protecting Rukhadze.
According to Sioridze, members of parliament have already responded to this issue, because it concerns the financial matters related to the funeral ceremony of Ilia II. In his words, this touches the honor of a person who, regardless of political views, united the Georgian people, not only Orthodox Christians.
"If we look through the chronicles of "Georgian Dream", it is all a chronicle of betrayal, and they themselves say so - Garakhia is a traitor, Garibashvili is a traitor, whoever was the original team, they are also traitors, and in short, they live from traitor to traitor. One thing that is good is that nobody in "Georgian Dream" has the right to be calm, because when someone's protege is sacrificed and his patron, nobody knows what kind of day will dawn for him tomorrow", said Sioridze.
According to him, this has no connection with the fight against corruption and enforcement of law. Sioridze stated that they use this to fuel their internal confrontation and remove competitors, and that these are individual revenge acts which at the same time coincide with the culpability of specific persons.
