According to Turkish officials, part of a rocky formation known as the "fairy chimney" collapsed in the Göreme region.

According to Hüseyin Kök, governor of Nevşehir province, the collapse was likely caused by heavy rains that fell recently. He noted that rescue teams are continuing to search for people who may have been trapped under the rubble.

According to Kök, two of the three dead are Turkish citizens. He did not disclose information about the third victim.
