Russia is expanding its embargo on Georgian wine. Three companies have been added to the ban list: GWS-Wine-Company, Chateau Mukhrani and Viniveria. The information is being spread by BM.GE, citing pro-Russian businessman Mamuka Pipia.

14 years after the market reopened, on October 9, 2026, Russia imposed an embargo on some companies producing Georgian wine, mineral water and carbonated drinks. The official reason cited this time was again non-compliance with sanitary norms.

As of 2025, Russia's share in Georgia's total exports was 10.3%, in local exports (excluding re-exports) 20.8%, and in agricultural product exports 36.8%. For wine, dependence on Russia reaches 64%, and for spirits 56%. More than 80% of some fruit varieties are exported to Russia.
