Former President of the National Bank and opposition politician Roman Gotsiridze criticized the increased salaries of deputies and ministers on the Palitranews program "Resume" and accused the government of corruption.

According to Gotsiridze, salary is payment for labor, while parliamentary deputies only go to the legislative body to press a button. He explained that in 2024, when he was in parliament, the budget was submitted and the 4,000 lari salary of an ordinary deputy was supposed to increase exactly threefold from 2025, to 11,880 lari. Salaries were rising depending on positions.

Gotsiridze said that the salary of an ordinary deputy is now 13,880 lari, while ministers and other officials have seen their salaries rise to 17,000. According to him, every second person is a millionaire. The politician stated that pensioners under 70 were given a pension increase of only 20 lari. He said that in Georgia, a parliament member's salary is 33 times higher than the average pension.

Gotsiridze also spoke about cars serving committees: according to him, 32 cars serve committee chairs and their deputies, while factions and other officials have 48 cars and 600 liters of gasoline per month.

According to him, this composition of the "Georgian Dream" government said the party had been plundering the country for 13 years and has been fighting corruption for the past year. Gotsiridze calls this a lustration of himself and says that it is clear from yesterday's session and today's statements that the opposition's claims were accurate. In his assessment, the corrupt regime is revealing its crimes step by step.
