Kobakhidze: Lawsuit Filers Likely to Be Parliament Representatives

Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze responded to the issue of specific individuals attending the hearing of the lawsuit on banning parties at the Constitutional Court. According to him, the court itself will decide on this matter, and it is its prerogative.

Kobakhidze made these remarks in response to a demand by former President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili, who calls for him to be brought to the Constitutional Court in Batumi, where the hearing of the party ban lawsuit is to begin. The prime minister said he would not comment on this.

Asked who will be the lawsuit's filer, Kobakhidze replied that it is likely to be parliament representatives, since the lawsuit was submitted with the signatures of parliament members.

"As for the subjects filing the lawsuit, the people who will file the lawsuit are probably supposed to be parliament representatives, since the lawsuit was submitted to the Constitutional Court with the signatures of parliament members. Who exactly will be the representative, we will inform you later," Kobakhidze said.

Regarding expectations from the court and the possibility of partial satisfaction of the lawsuit, the prime minister said he would not comment on this.

"I cannot tell you that. Of course, our wish is for the lawsuit to be satisfied to the maximum extent, the rest is up to the Constitutional Court. When a specific subject files a lawsuit in court, it is in its interest that the lawsuit be fully satisfied, and this is how we will defend our positions. The rest depends entirely on the Constitutional Court," Kobakhidze said.
