Boris Chele Kurua: Police Hired People Chosen for Party Loyalty Rather Than Professionalism

ბორის ჩელე ყურუა: პოლიციაში პროფესიონალიზმის ნაცვლად პარტიული ერთგულებით არჩეული ადამიანები დაასაქმეს

Lawyer and opposition politician Boris Chele Kurua says on the "Free Studio" program of Palitranews that many people in the police were selected for their loyalty to the party rather than their professionalism. In his assessment, they have tarnished the uniform of honest police officers. Kurua spoke about recent cases of violence against citizens by law enforcement officers, including footage filmed in Gori: "The police is not an ordinary service, it is a person who must protect public safety, and in this case we see that they are not protecting security, on the contrary, their superiors think they are something special".

In the case of prisoner Giorgi Davitadze, Kurua stated that video footage released by the Penitentiary Service does not rule out the convicted person's version. In his words, an objective investigation is needed, but it should not be conducted by the Penitentiary Service, because the alleged abusers are representatives of this very service.
