The US State Department has approved a possible sale of 500 Patriot-type missiles to Ukraine. This was stated in the department's announcement.

The estimated value of the agreement is $2.1 billion, and it will be fully financed by partners and allies. Ukraine will carry out the purchase with funds contributed by Canada, Germany and Norway under the JUMPSTART program, as well as national funds financed by a European Union loan supporting Ukraine.

"This sale agreement does not involve US budget funds," the State Department's announcement says.

According to the announcement, the Ukrainian government requested to buy 500 units of PAC-3 missiles from the US. The package also includes non-core defense equipment, including spare parts and software components.

"The proposed sale will contribute to achieving the goals of US foreign policy and national security, as it will strengthen the security of a partner country that represents an important force for political and economic stability in Europe," the US State Department says.
