The letter written by 26-year-old Tako is a complete nightmare. Many people will probably find it hard to believe that such things are actually happening in the country, but it doesn’t change anything. The victims are mostly women.
Tako: Today, they often talk about the increased violence against women, but no one admits that it didn’t start now and that they have been abusing us for many years.
And this starts when we are no longer small, cute children and we grow up.
I was 9 years old when my father died, although I can’t call that man my father. He had another family and rarely came to us.

As I got older, I realized that I was a good weapon for my mother, that she could have destroyed the family by getting pregnant, but it didn’t work out. Perhaps this was also the reason that my father, who came to us, was doing his duty.
No one from our relatives came to visit us, everyone ostracized my mother for this behavior, and our only grandmother visited us once a week.
She could not abandon her child, although her grandfather hid for a long time that she had reconciled with my mother. I was very beautiful in appearance, with distinctive blue eyes.
I had many admirers, but the son of one of my mother’s mistresses was especially active.
I was 14 years old at the time, Guja was 17. My mother did not stop us from visiting and often left us alone. One evening my mother spoke to me and said, “You are very beautiful and I am afraid that someone will kidnap you.”
I want you to hand over to your owner early and calm down too. She had already chosen a bridegroom in the form of Guja. I admit, I was very happy.
At that time, it was fashionable for girls my age to get married. That year, two of my classmates were kidnapped, and everyone in the class envied us. I also liked my future husband, he was a very handsome boy. I immediately agreed and got married at the age of 14 as soon as I finished eighth grade.
They threw us a very big wedding, although we had been engaged for a month before. When my school principal found out, he called my mother and scolded her severely.
My grandmother also came crying and argued with me. She threatened that if I marry this child off, I would never come to this house again.
My mother didn’t want to hear anything. I still remember the wedding night like hell. I don’t want to go into details, but my relationship with my wife became difficult. We kept this story a secret for a week, and finally Guja revealed it to her father and everyone found out.
My mother took me to the doctor. I remember how the gynecologist looked at my mother with disgust when he heard about the problem and said, “How could you marry this little child off? You’re not a woman.” Finally, they gave me a needle and when I woke up, everything was over.
I lost my virginity under anesthesia. For two months I couldn’t look my family members in the eye. I developed a special hatred for my mother. My life is very similar to the lives of other unfortunate girls.
By the age of 17, I already had two children. I sat at home all day and my husband already had a lover. At first, Guja just shouted at me, then he started beating me. One day, he got fed up with me and I returned to my mother’s house.
My husband was already fed up with me and didn’t want to leave me. My mother would see me for a while, then I left the children with her and have been living in Italy for six years. Unlike other Georgian immigrants, I was lucky.
I work as a helper in a very good family and they don’t give me anything. They even give me two months of vacation a year. Today I am happy, but the hell of the past doesn’t let me rest.
I don’t even want to see a man anymore, I don’t know if I will ever fall in love with someone and think about getting married.
